COMPETITIONS
All competitions are
governed by the Competition Bylaws (latest edition on the Web April 2002), a
copy of which may be obtained from your club secretary, or from the OBA
Secretary or viewed on the OBA web site. Please note: No smoking in any
county events; EBU regulations apply in events in which non OBA members may
play. OBA membership should be paid before entering any OBA competitions. This
is currently £3 per annum and was due on 1st April 2003.
At the January 2002 OBA
Committee meeting, and after consultation with members it was agreed that
cash prizes for OBA competitions be replaced by a permanent memento (hence
the increase in entry fees). Entry fees, and accommodation expenses will
continue to be paid for the Pachabo & Corwen qualifiers.
Subject to there being
sufficient entries parallel streams, restricted to Bridge for All students,
and beginners with fewer than 200 local points, will be organised for County
competitions 3,4,5,6, and 7.
Enter by completing
the entry form and sending it to the appropriate competition secretary,
TOGETHER WITH THE ENTRY FEE.
Entries for county
competitions 5, 6,7 and 8 must be made by completing the appropriate entry form
and sending it WITH THE ENTRY FEE to the Tournament Secretary, Bill McCarthy,
at least 5 days before (i.e. Tuesday evening before) the event. Entry fees for
these include the cost of tea (sandwiches, cake etc). Entries after this date will not be accepted.
The OBA Web Site
contains results, news, club details, articles and match reports, links to
other bridge web sites and the OBA Constitution
Those with access to
the internet are encouraged to printout pages from the web site (e.g. news and
results) for their local club notice board.
Members who would
like to contribute, please contact Richard Lonsdale on Tel (01235) 811493 or by
