Choosing your URL

Your URL (Uniform Resource Locator) is the Internet address of your home page. Its format is:

http://www.btinternet.com/~yourname
where "yourname" is one of your chosen e-mail addresses. only one email address can be used for your homepage.

Each URL is made up of three parts:

the protocol, in this case, http://
the host name, in this case, www.btinternet.com, the server where your home page is stored
the file path, in this case, /~your name, which directs the browser to your web space on the server

Choosing your URL

You can use any one of your e-mail names in your URL. For example, if your e-mail name is smith.family, your URL could be:

http://www.btinternet.com/~smith.family
or
http://www.smith.family.btinternet.co.uk

You can of course continue to use this e-mail address for sending and receiving mail.

It is important to note that URLs are case sensitive. You must enter your e-mail name in lower case. For example, the URL:

http://www.btinternet.com/~Smith.Family

would not work. Also note that you can't include any spaces in your URL.
