Q. What does the new BTinternet for BT Surf packages option offer?
A. BT has launched a number of payment options which include free evening Internet access from 6pm to 8am and all weekend. BTinternet for BT Surf packages are used in conjunction with these payment options and cost an additional £4*. For further details please click here.

*Effective from 1st August 2001 the BTinternet monthly subscription for Surf packages will increase from £4.00 to £5.99.

Q. How much does BTinternet for BT Surf packages cost?
A. It costs £4* (inc VAT) in addition to your chosen BT Surf package charge.

Q. How will I pay for BTinternet for BT Surf packages?
A. BTinternet for BT Surf packages is charged to your BT telephone bill.

Q. If I use a BTinternet for BT Surf package can I connect to the Internet from any PC/telephone line and still get free calls?
A. No. You can only receive unmetered calls on the telephone line on which you have registered to use a BT Surf package.

Q. I have seen lots of advertising by BT for a £5.99 package for free evenings and weekends – does that mean my BTinternet package has been reduced in price?
A. SurfTime is a BT Surf package for Internet calls but does not include Internet access, for which participating ISPs may make an additional charge. BTinternet is a participating ISP and is offering both the unmetered Internet calls (evenings 6pm - 8am and weekends) and access for £4 per month plus the BT SurfTime tariff). Effective from 1st August 2001 the BTinternet monthly subscription for Surf packages will increase from £4.00 to £5.99.

Q. What is the main difference between BTinternet and BTinternet for BT Surf packages?
A. The main difference is that BTinternet for BT Surf packages allows BT telephone customers to charge their subscription costs to their BT phone bill.

Q. Is BTinternet offering an access package that links with SurfTime "Anytime" (£19.99 per month) – if not, why not?
A. No. However, BTinternet will soon be offering 'BTinternet Anytime', a payment option that gives you unmetered access to the internet at any time for a fixed monthly fee of just £14.99. This is not related to the BT SurfTime Anytime package.

Q. What help will be available to get me started?
A. BTinternet has both extensive online help for new and experienced users and a 24-hour, 365-day technical helpdesk (calls charged at 50p/minute). You will also have access to the free BTinternet Service Status line on 0800 731 7777. There is also a separate contact for billing inquiries.

Q. Is BTinternet going to be offering a completely free service?
A. There are no plans to launch a free BTinternet service at this time.
