Connection Problems

Modem doesn't dial

Check the obvious first. Is it plugged into the telephone line and (if an external model) is it turned on ?

Make sure the correct modem is installed for the dialer you are using.

Check the telephone line with an ordinary phone as it's possible there's a fault on the line.

Modem disconnects

There can be many things that will make your modem disconnect no apparent reason. Please remember that when using the 0800 number it will disconnect after 2 hours.

Check you are dialing in on the correct number for your modem type (mainly V.90 these days) and that you have the latest drivers for your modem by checking the manufacturer's Website.

Try unplugging other telephony equipment on extensions around the house.

Turn off Call Waiting if you have it.
