How much are my telephone calls to BTinternet?
You will have connected by a local call to our network, and BT or your local phone service provider will be charging for this call at normal rates. At the moment, BT charges: £2.37 per hour during the business day, 96p per hour during weekday evenings and nights and 60p per hour during the weekends, for local calls.
How can I cut the cost of my calls?
You can save money by doing some things "off-line", that is when your client software is active, but you are not connected to the Internet. In particular, there is no real need to be on line when composing or reading e-mail. If you do both off-line, you will minimize the amount of time you spend connected to the Internet without affecting your enjoyment, and you will lower your phone bill for local calls. You can also lower your phone bill by asking BT to make your access number a "Friends and Family" number. Call 150 for more details. And don't forget BTinternet is now available with 0800 access every weekday evening from 6pm until midnight and all weekend. Click here for details.
What number do I call to get online?

How does BTinternet work with Call Waiting?
Call Waiting works by sending a tone down the line to advise you that there is another incoming call. This is no problem when you are talking to a person, because you hear it without it breaking the connection. However, your computer and modem will hear it and think the distant end has disconnected. If you have Call Waiting you should do one of two things. First, you could consider changing it to BT's CallMinder service, which will answer and take a message for you. Second, you could disable Call Waiting before connecting to the Internet. If you leave Call Waiting running while you are connected to the Internet, any incoming calls will end your session.
To subscribe to CallMinder, call BT on 150 during working hours. To disable Call Waiting dial #43# (hash-4-3-hash) before starting your Internet session. Dial *43# (star-4-3-hash) to enable Call Waiting when you have finished.
