The Banchory Darts Season drew to a conclusion this weekend as the players contested the League Singles at the Legion.  Solid finishing all day saw Campbell Ross (Parkers A) defeat Gary Pittendreigh (Legion) in the final by a 3-1 score.  Campbell had earlier beaten Davie Forbes (Parkers B) in his semi-final whilst Gary beat Andy Ewan (Parkers A) in the other semi-final.  Richard Merchant (Parkers A) hit 2 max 180s and Gary Pittendreigh also hit a max 180 whilst Neil Catto (Parkers A) had a 130 checkout.

John Torrie (Legion) defeated Andy Ewan (Parkers A) to lift the Captain’s Cup on Saturday night.

Last night saw the conclusion of the 2008/2009 darts league in Banchory with Parkers A closing their title winning season with a 10-0 win over the lovely ladies of Parkers C whilst Parkers B defeated Stag A 6-4 and Stag B moved up to 3rd in the table with a 6-4 home win over the Legion.

Best darts of the night came from the Parkers B v Stag A match where Davie Forbes (Parkers B) hit his 3rd max 180 of the season, Ross Gray (Stag A) had a 19 dart leg and Graham “Amos” Laing hit a 116 checkout.

This Sunday sees the League Singles title contested at the Legion.  Well done to all who played in Banchory this season and best of luck for Sunday.

Yesterday saw competitors from each of the teams pair up to compete for the League Doubles title in Parkers.  At the end of the day the title went to Jamie Park & Davie Forbes (Parkers) who defeated Andy Ewan & Campbell Ross (Parkers A) in the final.  Jamie & Davie had beaten John Torrie & Kirsten Torrie (Legion) in their semi-final whilst Andy & Campbell beat Bill Muir & Alasdair Ramage (Stag A) in the other semi-final.
Well done to Jamie & Davie and to all those who took part.

 

Wed 25th Mar
Parkers B claimed the runners-up spot in the league last night with a solid 8-2 win over Stag B having been all square at 2-2 after the 1,001 and doubles.  Parkers A's 8-2 win over the Legion helped Parkers B claim second spot and left the Legion with 3rd spot to play for. They will be challenged for that by the Stag A team who had a 10-0 win over Parkers C. 
Some good darts thrown on the night as Craig Lindsey (Stag A) had a 19 dart leg, Richard Merchant & Campbell Ross (Parkers A) had a 19 dart leg in their doubles and Mark Thomson (Parkers A) had a 14 dart leg.  Ewan Ferries (Stag B) hit a 171 whilst Davie Forbes (Parkers B), Jamie Park (Parkers A) and Mark Thomson (Parkers A) all hit max 180's.

Andy Ewan captained Parkers A to their 3rd League title in a row last night as they defeated Stag B 9-1.  Parkers A are 7 points clear with only 3 games left.  Parkers B took another step towards claiming 2nd place as they won 9-1 at home to Parkers C whilst the Legion remain in 3rd place after a 7-3 win over Stag A.
Best darts of the night came from Neil Catto (Parkers A) who had a 180 and a 17 dart leg whilst Geordie Catto (Parkers A) hit a 171.  Gerry Corrigan (Stag B) checked out 114 whilst Alan Jarvie (legion) checked out 106.

 

Wed 11th Mar

Parkers B kept the title race alive for at least another week as they held Parkers A to a 5-5 draw.  It was the same scoreline in the Stag derby whilst biggest movers of the week were the Legion who move into 3rd place after their 10-0 win over Parkers C.  Lots of good stuff on the night with Ross Gray (Stag A) hitting a 180 and an 18 dart leg whilst fellow Stag A player Bill Muir also hit a 180.  Ian Mathers (Stag B) also hit a 180 and he and Gerry Corrigan had an 18 dart leg in their doubles match.  Garry Pittendreigh (legion) had a 109 checkout whilst Mark Thomson (Parkers A) had an 18 dart leg and a 130 checkout.  Kev Fraser & Graham Catto (Parkers B) had an 18 dart leg.

Tom Davidson Singles

Barry Chalmers (Parkers B) was thwarted in his bid for a fifth consecutive Tom Davidson title as he went down 3-1 to Gary Pittendreigh of the Legion in the final.  Gary played excellent darts all night and fully deserved the win as he consistently hit the treble 20 bed in the final.  Gary had earlier beaten Gerry Corrigan (Stag B) in the semi-final whilst Barry narrowly made it past Veda Grubb (parkers C) in his semi-final.

Forest Pairs

Richard Merchant & Mark Thomson (Parkers A) made it a hat-trick of wins in the Forest Pairs as they successfully defended their title again last night at Parkers.  A 13 dart leg and a 180 from Mark helped them overcome Parkers B pairing of Davie Forbes & Neil Jaffray in the final.  Richard & Mark had beaten the Legion pair of John Torrie / Derek Pittendreigh in the semi-final whilst Davie & Neil won through against the Parkers C team of Louise Grubb & Emma Smith.

Parkers A extended their lead at the top to 7 points on Wednesday after a 9-1 win over the ladies of Parkers C whilst 2nd placed Parkers B were held to a draw by Stag A.   3  teams are now locked on 9 points in 3rd after the Legion cruised to an 8-2 home win over Stag B.
Whilst 9-1 sounds like a walkover it was anything but for Parkers A after Johnny Merchant and Geordie Catto were beaten in their doubles by Gillian Mitchell and Yvonne George who was playing with a broken ankle !  Hannah Gauld and Marie Kemp also took their singles matches to the deciding leg.
Next week sees the Tom Davidson singles and the Forest Pairs to be played at Parkers.  7.45pm register for 8pm start.

Last night saw a good turnout for the ladies Singles in Banchory with the tournament held at Parkers.  The Ladies Singles Champion for 2008/2009 is pre-tournament favourite Kirstin Torrie (Legion) who defeated Emma Smith (Parkers C) 3-0 in the final.  Kirstin failed to drop a single leg on her way to lifting the trophy and included a 21 dart leg in her quarter-final win over Hannah Gauld (Parkers C).  Kirstin had beaten Louise Grubb in her semi-final whilst Emma defeated Gwen Torrie (Legion) in the other semi-final.

Well done to our new champion and to all those who took part.

Parkers A maintained their 6 point lead at the top of the table with an 8-2 win over Stag A whilst Parkers B are now 3 points clear in 2nd place after their 7-3 win over the Legion.  The Stag B also recorded a 7-3 scoreline over the girls from Parkers C. Best darts of the night came from Andy Ewen (Parkers A) who had an 18 dart leg whilst Campbell Ross (Parkers A) had a 20 dart leg.

Parkers A maintained their unbeaten run with an 8-2 victory away to the Legion whilst Parkers B are clear in 2nd place after an 8-2 home win over Stag B.  Stag A managed a 7-3 win over the girls of Parkers C.  Best darts of the night came from Kev Fraser (Parkers B) who had a max 180 whilst Ross Gray (Stag A) had a 20 dart leg.  Hannah Gauld (Parkers C) narrowly missed a 138 checkout in her 22 dart leg.  Next week sees Stag A host Parkers A, Stag B host Parkers C and the Legion travel to Parkers B.

Last night saw the entrants split into the 2 competitions based on age for the Over 35s and Under 35s singles.  There was a healthy turnout for both competitions and some good darts thrown on the night.  The Over 35s was won by Mark Thomson (Parkers A) who beat an in-form Neil Jaffray (Parkers B) 3-1 in the final.  Mark opened up with an 18 dart leg and then finished the match with a 17 dart leg to claim the title.  Mark had beaten Ewan Ferries in the semi-final whilst Neil had earlier defeated reigning champion Davie Forbes on his way to the final.

The Under 35s was won by Richard Merchant (Parkers A) who beat a rejuvenated Darren Silver (Parkers B).  Richard came back from a leg down to beat team-mate Jamie Park in the quarter-final before beating Ian Mathers (Stag B) in his semi-final whilst Darren made it past Derek Pittendreigh (legion) in his semi-final.

Best darts of the night were from Mark Thomson with 17 & 18 dart legs, Richard Merchant who hit a 180 and had a 17 dart leg whilst Jamie Park finished 103 and Johnny Merchant (Parkers A) checked out 117.

Parkers A opened up a 6 point lead at the top of the table as they extended their 100% record to 7 wins from 7 after beating Stag B 8-2.  Parkers B moved back into 2nd place with a 10-0 win against the girls from Parkers C whilst Stag B and the Legion are now locked together on 7 points in 3rd place after the Legion won 7-3 away to Stag A.

Some good darts thrown in each of the games with Garry Pittendreigh (Legion) having a 19 dart leg, Kev Fraser (Parkers B) also having a 19 dart leg whilst Shaun Wheeldon (Stag B) and Jamie Park (Parkers A) had 19 dart legs, Campbell Ross (Parkers A) had a 20 dart leg, Richard Merchant (Parkers A) had a 17 darter & 19 dart leg and Mark Thomson (Parkers A) had a 14 dart leg.

Next week sees the players split by age into the two competitions for Under 35s Singles and the “Auld Folks Cup”, the Over 35s singles.  7.45pm register for 8pm start.

Parkers A won the TSB Trophy in Banchory last Wednesday after beating the Stag A 4-0 in the final.  Parkers A reached the final after defeating the other Stag A team in the quarter final and then the Legion in the semi-final.  Stag A reached the final with wins over Parkers B and the Stag B.  Best darts on the night came from Davie Forbes (Parkers B) who had a 123 finish whilst Richard Merchant (Parkers A) checked out 104 for the second time this season.

Next week sees a return to league business when second placed Stag B travel to Parkers A looking to stop the reigning Champions adding to their 5 point lead whilst Stag A host the ever improving Legion and the girls of Parkers C face up to the derby match with Parkers B.

A New Year perhaps but it was a familiar story in Banchory last night as Parkers A extended their lead at the top of the table to 5 points after an 8-2 victory over Parkers B.  The Stag B moved into second place in the table on 7 points after a 7-3 win against the Stag A whilst the Legion are now only 2 points off second place despite being in 5th spot at the moment after their closely contested 8-2 win over Parkers C.

Best darts of the night came from Kev Fraser (Parkers B) and Richard Merchant (Parkers A) who both had 18 dart legs whilst Jamie Park (Parkers A) checked out 115.

Next week sees the teams battle it out for the 4 man Leys Cup at the Legion.  7.45pm register for 8pm start.

The Parkers A team of Andy Ewan, Richard Merchant and Neil Catto won the Banchory League Triples last night after defeating the Legion team of John Torrie Snr, Kirsten Torrie and John Torrie Jnr 3-0.  Parkers A had won through to the final after beating the Stag A and the second Legion team.  The Legion themselves had good wins over the two Parkers B teams before defeat in the final.  Whilst there were no maximums or high finishes, special mention goes to Kirsten Torrie who played some excellent darts all night particularly in beating Kev Fraser (Parkers B) in the semi-final.

Parkers A extended their lead at the top of the table to 4 points with a 9-1 win over parkers C despite being a man short.  Parkers B and the Stag A could only manage a draw in their game which means Parkers B remain 2nd on legs difference.  Stag B closed to within a point of these two with a 7-3 home win over the Legion.
Best darts on the night came from Chris James (Stag A) who had a 17 dart leg whilst Neil Catto (Parkers A) and Mark Thomson (Parkers A) both had 19 dart legs.  Mark Thomson also hit a max 180.

Parkers A retained the TSB Trophy in Banchory last night defeating a valiant Stag B team 4-2 in the final.  Parkers A had earlier beaten Parkers C and Parkers B to reach the final whilst Stag B had to get past the Legion and two Stag A teams.  Best darts of the night came from Richard Merchant (Parkers A) who had a 120 finish whilst M

Reigning Champions Parkers A extended their lead at the top of the league in Banchory to 3 points last night with a 9-1 win over the Stag A.  Mark Thomson (Parkers A) had an 18 dart leg and a 120 finish whilst Richard Merchant (Parkers A) checked out 104.  Parkers B moved into 2nd place despite drawing 5-5 away to the Legion whilst Stag B moved up a place with an 8-2 win away to Parkers C.

Parkers A retained the Hay Trophy last night in Banchory after beating a gallant Stag B 5-2 in the final.  Stag B had earlier defeated the Stag A 5-0 in their semi-final whilst Parkers A beat Parkers B 5-3 in the first round before winning through 5-1 against the Legion in their semi-final.  Legion had beaten Parkers C 5-0 in the first round.
