Based in Arequipa in southern Peru, this expedition will attempt first British ascents (and possibly some other first ever ascents) of some of the highest peaks in Southern Peru. The peaks are moderate ascents over glaciers with some big crevasses and perhaps some steep climbing to gain the summits. Before climbing the biggest peaks we will make ascents of a couple of lower peaks to help with acclimatisation and it is our intention to attempt some new routes or other unclimbed summits during this stage of the expedition.
Before going to the mountains we will have a few days in and around Arequipa and also visit the spectacular Colca canyon (the worlds deepest canyon). Our time here will give us a chance to acclimmatise before heading to the higher mountains.
This expedition is a great opportunity to do some exploratory mountaineering in a very quiet and interesting part of Peru and is suitable for those with a little previous winter walking or climbing experience. The ascents are not expected to be particularly difficult.
For obvious reasons we can't reveal the destination peaks of this expedition over the internet
