Trekking and easy mountaineering in Bolivia
Bolivia is one of the most interesting and enjoyable destinations for a trip to the Andes. Our new Bolivia Trek and Climbs expedition offers a unique combination of trekking and climbing in remote areas of this country. We will begin with a trek in the Cordillera Apolobamba, a scenic range near the Peruvian border. We trek north from Curva to Pelechuco and there will be a chance to climb a couple of lower peaks of over 5000m height on this trek. Then after a brief rest in the capital La Paz we'll travel to the remote south-western desert of Bolivia where we will climb one of the easiest 6000m peaks in the world, Volcan Parinacota 6342m. Parinacota is a beautiful ice covered volcanic cone and is the highest volcanic cone in the world.
This trekking expedition will be based in La Paz and we'll spend the first few days in and around this fascinating city until we get used to the thin air. The La Paz airport is higher than the summit of the Eiger! During this time in La Paz we will arrange some optional sightseeing trips, including the pre-Inca ruins of Tiahuanaco and Lake
Titicaca.
