Here's some great photo's of a not-so-old friend of the club; Mai. After a short visit to England, Mai studied for a year in China and is now completing her studies at Tokyo University. She hopes, one day, to become a Merchant Banker!

The Monday night senior session would like to say a big thank you to a very special friend of the club; Masaki Negishi. Masaki studied for a degree in Bath for 3 years and was a regular member of the club before, first returning to Japan, and then moving to Switzerland, where he now lives with his wife, Karin.
Mas, gave a most impressive display of superb judo technique and was an inspiration to all.
Not only is Masaki tops at Judo, he is also a dab-hand at calligraphy! Take a look by clicking each to get an enlargement. Hover over them to see their meaning.

Here's evidence (for our kids) that Amber & Dan's father is a real judo player!
Joking aside, Jan has been a top competitive player for many years and the more we can get him on the mat the better. Jan is currently recovering from a badly broken leg (from work not Judo!) that the whole club wishes him a speedy recovery from.
Just to show not all our ref's are brutish balding blokes (this is directed more at myself than Jan of course!), here's a very much prettier one taking her first steps in that direction (that's in the direction of being a ref not to being a balding brutish bloke which wouldn't suit her at all!). Well done Hannah!
Here's a blast from the past - On the right is Jan in his younger days (when he had hair!). In the middle is the mighty Clive Reed. Can't remember the other guy but I'm sure he's lost a hair or two by now!
One or two look like young Dan Hitchcock but the photo's at least 30 years old - who could they be?
