KP Reschange

Anyone out there who uses Thing 1.09 under AES 4.x will no doubt be aware that the "Change Resolution" option is disabled. I have no idea why this is, and find it incredibly annoying - particularly when I am writing a prog that changes resolution (such as GEM-DEU), as if a crash occurs, it is very difficult to restore the system without a reboot.

screengrab So... my solution is to use KP Reschange, which you can install as a tool on one of the Fkeys, and simply hitting this comes up with a dialogue allowing the user to change resolution. Unlike the normal dialogue, KP Reschange supports Overscan and NTSC/PAL mode on RGB monitors / TV. NTSC mode is even supported on the ST.

After the resolution change has taken place, for the chosen desktop (eg. Thing) to be automatically restored, rather than initialising NewDesk, it is essential that the desktop is installed as the shell - so GEM.CNF should contain:

setenv AVSERVER=THING
shell C:\THING\THING.APP
In common with all other KP software, This program supports all (appropriate) modern GEM protocols, such as AV window cycling, iconify etc.

This program is currently in beta testing, and should be released as freeware soon...
