KP SACK

System Audio Manager (SAM), as supplied with the Falcon by Atari adds the ability for the user of a system to add sampled sound effects to various system events (such as open/close window, file-selector and other events) which can at times be very useful.

SAM also has the ability for programs to register themselves with SAM as 'SAM Aware Applications' via a .SAA file. This allows the applications to install extra sounds, and also to make use of other built-in events such as 'cut', 'copy' and 'paste' (there are 11 such system global sounds) with very minimal amounts of code (approx 2 lines).

Unfortunately this protocol has not been supported by any existing applications for the simple fact that the documentation on how to use it was very difficult to obtain, and once it was obtained the utility provided to create .SAA files was rather buggy to say the least.

To rectify this, we have written our own .SAA creator program, which comes complete with ST-Guide doc's detailing how you make use of the SAA files inside your own program. This program is nearing its completion, and will hopefully be released as FREEWARE soon.

We have, unfortuantely discovered a bug in SAM version 1.2, which causes problems when using appliction macros defined within SAA files. However, we have managed to patch SAM to fix this bug, and now have permission from Atari / JTS Corp to release our modified version (1.3)

Before releasing the modified version, we made available a cut down version of KP SACK (V0.5), however as SAM 1.3 is now released, a full SACK 1.0 is now available for download.

UPDATE: Its been pointed out that the CPX was not bundled with our 1.3 distribution, I've updated the ZIP file to include it - users who have downloaded it before now can get it seperately. Readme now updated with new contact address
