AJ Popup

Summary This little program was inspired by a friend who wanted to have a simple way of messaging between PCs on their network, without installing any large chat applications. If possible, they also wanted it to work even if the other person had closed down their sending program - so I decided to make a simple wrapper program around the default NT messaging facilities.

Download and Installation
Download version 1.0

To install, simply unzip the ajpopup.exe to somewhere on your C drive. You may wish to create a shortcut to it in your "startup" directory within your start menu so that it automatically.

This program create a little "letter" icon in the systray. Double clicking on this opens a dialog allowing you to edit the content of your message and send it. The destination can either be a username, or a PC name.

The list of destinations will be remembered for next time you wish to send a message, making it easy to send between the same couple of destinations.

When a message is recieved, a simple message box is displayed by Windows, containing the message and who sent the message.

Compatibility Unfortunately the 9x version of the "net" command within Windows does not support the ability to send/recieve messages, so this application only works with a network made out of NT/Windows 2000/Windows XP.
