There are plenty of links to Java, javascript, HTML sites which provide support, tutorials, and free images/software etc.  EG. Netscape not only provides you with free browser and composer software but a range of images that you can use in your web page design.  The Sun site provides free Java programming and development software.  The Ipswitch web site provides free GUI FTP software etc.  There is a vast number of sites providing free support and many of them are directly linked from the this web site (HND home page) or accessing the De Montfort University (DMU) pages linked to this site.

STANDARD WARNING!!

ftp will allow you access into sensitive areas which the college cannot afford to have individuals playing with. It has taken a lot of negotiating with the technicians to get this facility provided for you and it is to be closely monitored. If anyone is found to be misusing the facility for anything other than instructed actions required within the syllabus it wil be closed down. The technicians are not interested in tracking the individuals concerned, the link will be closed to everyone regardless. If culprit/s are identified then disciplinary action will take place. The message is DON'T HACK IT! This warning has to be issued because the actions of few hackers can seriously jeopardise the whole of the College's network and our University link to the Web. It is not negotiable. This is a standard warning and obviously I am confident that no one in my groups will fit this category.
