Mission

Interchange Online's mission is to facilitate and encourage the adoption of standards, promote inter-institution liaison on the subject, provide a focus for standards efforts and disseminate information.

We are committed to the adoption of data interchange standards, including the EPISTLE Core Model, EPISTLE Reference Data Library, EPISTLE Templates, and relevant parts of STEP (ISO 10303, the Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data).

The Interchange Online pages continue the work of the Interchange Newsletter. We aim to publish news stories about events and activities that are relevant to the development, implementation, and deployment of data interchange standards in the process industries.

Interchange archives

The Interchange Newsletter was published by the group from 1994-2000 and covered a wide range of topics, both technical and business focussed. Copies of the newsletter may be freely downloaded. A comprehensive index of articles is available, covering the news stories published in Interchange Online as well as all issues of the Interchange Newsletter.

Interchange Online is supported by the Institution of Chemical Engineers and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers Joint Working Party (JWP) on Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) in the Process Industries.
