Mission and Vision

EPISTLE mission

To identify potential for collaboration between parties involved in developing standards for the integration, sharing, and exchange of technical information in the Process Industries, and to organize and deliver, on a voluntary basis, shared solutions to those problems.

To provide a forum for companies and organisations working on such standards to meet for the exchange of ideas, work programs, information, approaches to the problem, and to facilitate co-operation between such groups i.e. to avoid overlap and to fill "gaps".
To complement the work of formal standards organizations such as ISO TC184/SC4 (Industrial Data) and POSC.
To be the European focus for PIEBASE (Process Industries Executive for Business Advantage using Standards for information Exchange).

Vision

That the Process Industries can create and manage its information as data, independent of applications and organisations, and make it available for use in a form appropriate for the task to be performed.

That this capability should be provided through the use of International Standards.
