What form of archery does the club shoot?

The Club concentrates on target archery - outdoors between April and September, and indoors from October to March.

Do you run courses for beginners to archery?

Yes - whenever we can get half a dozen interested beginners together.

Is there an age limit?

There is no minimum age limit for joining a beginners course or becoming a member of the Club. We do, however, insist that children are accompanied by an adult at all times. There is no upper age limit!

What does it cost to become a member?

The Club's annual subscription is £80 for adults and £40 for juniors (under 16). This includes annual GNAS membership and Lancashire and Northern Counties registration fees. The Club also charges £2 per archer (£3 for visiting GNAS members) for each indoor session, but there are no additional fees for outdoor shoots.

Membership of GNAS is compulsory for all Club members. Among the benefits from GNAS membership are:

  • Public Liability insurance cover
  • Access to GNAS coaching schemes
  • Eligibility to take part in GNAS competitions
  • Entitlement to shoot at any affiliated club
  • Archery UK magazine (quarterly)

What happens when I complete the beginners course?

Once you have successfully completed the beginners' course, you may be eligible to take out membership of the Club (which is only granted at the discretion of the Committee and also depends upon numbers already in the Club), and to shoot with the other members. There is no guarantee that you will be able to join the Club. Guidance and coaching will continue to be available from the more experienced members and from the Club coach.
