This competition is run as a curtain-raiser to each new fencing season and features four local clubs. This year’s event was won by Liverpool for the first time, one victory ahead of the hosts.
The event features two teams from each of the invited clubs, one of senior fencers and one of novices with less than two years of fencing experience, the winning club being the one whose two teams achieve the most match victories. The competition uses the relay system for all matches. (The final round of matches had to be fenced as the first to 30 hits due to time pressure this year.)
