CLAUBEY COTTAGE and KENNET COTTAGE LOCATION

Both Claubey cottage and Kennet Cottage are situated just off the shore front on the lower slopes of the Mumbles Hill in the heart of the old part of Mumbles Village.

Ideally situated for walking, cycling, fishing, water sports, excellent restaurants, pubs and ice cream parlours. A stroll of five or six minutes along the prom will take you to the tennis courts, bowling green, crazy golf, shops, library, Post Office, Banks and Churches. A short stroll in the opposite direction will take you to the pier, lighthouse, Bracelet and Limeslade bays Castelamare Restaurant and cafeteria and the new play area for children.

Walk up the steps and path behind the cottage to the top of the Mumbles Hill, (five – twelve minutes, depending on your puff! ) for arguably the most outstanding views anywhere! The footpaths criss-crossing the hill offer stunning views of Mumbles Village, Oystermouth Castle, Swansea Bay, Mumbles pier and Lighthouse, Bracelet and Limeslade Bays across the Bristol Channel to North Devon, and along the points of the south Gower Peninsula........... the beautiful Gower Peninsula ............ Britains first "Area of Outstanding Beauty".

(In 1991 the Mumbles Hill was designated a Local Nature Reserve to protect its value for wildlife and to enable more people to enjoy the area. Although not large in area the reserve has a variety of natural habitats including maritime, heath, limestone, grassland, scrub and woodland. Its migratory birds include garden warblers, house martins and swallows, while many resident bird species such as skylark, green woodpecker and jay are also seen. There are badgers, squirrels, rabbits and foxes living on the hill.)

Rotherslade Bay, Langland Bay and golf course, also Caswell Bay ( see photograph below ), can all be reached either in 5-10 minutes by car or by walking around the the headlands on lovely scenic cliff path walks.
