There are 3 genre areas to apply for, that are open to DJs:
UK/US Garage
Hip-hop/R&B
D&B/Break Beat
DJ’s who have signed a contract to receive financial assistance are ineligible to enter this competition.
Judging criteria will be as follows:
30% Mixing
30% Tricks
20% Creativity & Innovation
10% Audience and Reaction
10% Music Selection (Diversity)
The 1st round gives the DJs 30 minutes each to play in their set genre, using open methods and displaying skills. The DJs will be up against another DJ in the same genre in that same hour, but will have 30 minutes each non-stop playing time.
The contest 2nd round will consist of 45 minute set, sticking to the DJs genre area. The first 25 minutes allow the DJ to play opens style. However, in the remaining 20 minutes; DJs have to play 20 or more tracks.
Semi-finals. It is suggested that DJs play in 2 or the genre areas.
DJs have 1 hour of performing time and in the remaining 20 minutes, DJs have to play 30 or more tracks.
The 4 remaining finalist, with have 2 legs of 30 minute each open methods and original skills to display.
CD use is disallowed
Turntables, maybe rotated
Judges decisions are final and no correspondence, discussion or abuse will be entered into. All prizes and cheques will be made out to the name printed on the entry form.
