Welcome to LIBERATION Website
Since its formation in 1954 the Movement for Colonial Freedom - now LIBERATION - has campaigned in Britain and abroad for all those struggling to achieve freedom from oppression and exploitation. We helped to launch organisations such as the Anti - Apartheid Movement, War on Want, the Britain Vietnam Association, Chile Solidarity Campaign and many others. Our efforts were appreciated by many countries and peoples around the world who have now achieved independence from Colonialism. Great advances have been made, but old empires have been replaced by new forms of imperialism. Transnational corporations now subjugate and exploit millions of people in the interests of profit. As a result, wars, mass killings, torture and famine are commonplace news items on our T.V. screens. LIBERATION has much more work to do and the call for our help and solidarity are greater than ever. Opposition to racism is an important part of our activities and publications. We are strengthened by support from Britain's trade unions, M.P's and M.E.P's. Many other organisations and individuals in the UK and overseas have affiliated and are members. Furthermore the United Nations recognises LIBERATION as a non-governmental organisation and we are able to represent oppressed minorities on a world stage.
