John Digweed
Profile
John Digweed is closely associated with his DJ'ing partner Sasha, under
the moniker Sasha & Digweed, but it's easy to forget what a talented crowd
mover he is in his own right.
He has gained a huge amount of respect in the scene for his ability to
rock a crowd without having to drop 'obvious' tunes filled with drum rolls
and cheesy riffs. In fact he has always distanced himself from this style
and plays a much more Progressive style of Trance.
John has been a part of the Dance scene since its earliest days. He first
ventured into DJ'ing in his native Hastings, but got his first major break
at a night at London's Heaven.
His latest venture into club land has been with the hugely successful
Bedrock club nights, held at Heaven, just off the Charing Cross Road in
London. This monthly Thursday night event pulls in the crowds like no
other mid-week session and features a host of regular DJs such as Danny
Howells, Adam Freedland and of course Diggers as resident.
1999 was an especially good year for Digweed as it signaled his
re-entrance into the production world in a big way. His Bedrock single
(co-produced with Nick Muir) "Heaven Scent" received huge amounts of
support from many of the countries best DJs, making it one of the classics
of 1999.
The future for John looks like being more of the same mixture of hard work
and success. As he continues to stick with his own individual sound that
has made him so popular, he will continue to release stunning mix CD's and
promote his Bedrock events that keeps him ahead of many of his peers.
You can find out more about John Digweed, his music and his clubnight's at
the official Bedrock website.
