This man was not voted (by DJ Mag Readers) No. 1 producer in the world for nothing you know. He is the master of the original ‘euro’ sound that engulfed the nation in 99 and is the global ambassador for the trance sound.

He began life as a carpenter in Communist Berlin and soon rose to fame via the legendary Tresor, where he played his first set in 1991 and then becoming a resident at the E-Werk Club in Berlin. Since then Paul has obtained his residency at Twilo alongside others such as Sasha, Digweed and Carl Cox in New York.

However in 1999 Paul van Dyk vs Gatecrasher was the biggest club phenomenon to hit the British Isles. He played six times last year each time for 6 hours. Every one of the 6 events was rammed full with the crasher kids to see their ‘god’ at work. Some of the kids would even go without their precious Mitsubishis just because Paul does not approve.

Any Dj worth even thinking about will own a copy of Paul van Dyk’s For an Angel. It was possibly the tune of the Millennium and the new tunes Avenue and Another Way are setting the same standard worldwide.
