Tall Paul Profile
Tall Paul Newman is at the top of the pack when it comes to UK DJ's. He is
one of the best known crowd pullers in the country, due to his DJ'ing sets
and his remixes and production as Camisra.
It all started off in the late 80's and early 90's with Paul frequenting
clubs like Rage at Heaven and getting into playing House music on his own
Touchdown FM pirate station.
He began his DJ'ing career by filling in at his father's Turnmills club in
London's Clerkenwell. This gave him the opportunity to learn the trade of
a DJ and allowed him to practice on a loud club sound system. He went on
from these humble beginnings to play regularly for Laurence Malice's Trade
night at Turnmills whilst gaining a reputation for being a good dance
floor moving DJ.
He has had huge amounts of success using his Camisra alias when it comes
to producing tunes. The first was the classic "Let Me Show You" released
back in 1997. This was a tune quickly made by Paul to use in his Ibiza
sets to give him an edge against the other big-name DJ's. But it became
such a hit that it was given a national release and the Camisra name was
re-used on a couple of Paul's new singles and remixes.
Tall Paul is still resident at brother Danny Newman's well respected
Gallery club night at Turnmills on a Friday. This club is well known on
the London scene as one of the best, and compliments Paul's country wide
playing schedule that includes clubs such as Gatecrasher, Cream, Miss
Moneypenny's and Sundissential.
Latest events have seen Paul regularly co-hosting a Saturday night radio
show on Kiss FM with good friend Seb Fontaine. This has gone really well,
and shown another new side to Tall Paul. This Saturday night mix-down show
allows him to reach a much wider audience and has become the essential
Saturday night warm-up for many clubbers.
