DJ Tiesto, one half of
Gouryella alongside Ferry Corsten is another of the latest wave of Dutch
superstars. Real name Tijs Verwest, he is an accomplished DJ in Holland as
well as a producer and remixer, he has become a crowd favourite over in
the UK on the back of his stunning tunes.
His biggest successes have come with production partner Ferry Corsten,
with tune's such as the self titled "Gouryella" and most recently
"Walhalla", both released on the Tsunami label, staying at the front of
most well known DJ's boxes for lengthy periods of time. Always a difficult
thing to do in the present day scene.
Tiesto is also an accomplished remixer in his own right as proven on
tracks such as Balearic Bill's "Destination Sunshine" on Xtravaganza
Records, and one of his latest tracks "Njordfell" was picked up by Graham
Gold's Good:As label.
Tiesto's success on the production front has allowed him access to many of
the UK's major club nights, with many promoters eager to headline him at
their event. So far he has played regularly for Gatecrasher and Slinky,
with plenty more sets lined up in the future.
2000 should see Tiesto continuing in current form. CD compilations are
starting to appear in the high-streets mixed by himself, as he has now
started to gain a reputation as one of Europe's finest Trance DJ's. More
collaboration work with Ferry Corsten in the near future should also help
to keep Tiesto at the forefront of our scene, and with releases like the
recent "Sparkles" riding high in the club charts the future looks bright.
