IF CASH-EACH WAY BETTING
IF CASH - EACH WAY EXPLANATION
This type of bet is no different, in its' intention to make another bet from the returns of an initial bet, than the 'If Cash'-win bet. The theory of the bet is the same, but sometimes the settling of the 'if cash' part of the bet is determined by a bookmakers rules when there are insufficient returns to cover all the 'if cash'-instructions.
First, let us look at some examples of 'If Cash' bets with each way instructions.
1. -- £10 Win 'A' --- If Cash --- £10 Each Way 'B'
2. -- £10 Each Way 'F' ---If Cash --- £10 Each Way 'G'
3. -- £5 Each Way 'X' --- If Cash --- £10 Each Way Double 'YZ'
4. -- £4 Each Way Dble 'PQ'--- If Cash --- £10 Each Way Treble 'RST'
5. -- £5 Each Way 'C' --- If Cash --- £8 Win 'D'
All the above bets have --'Each Way' instructions, and each bet is written clearly so a settler should have no difficulty in understanding or in settling any of them. But problems could arise, as mentioned above, if there was a shortfall of money to cover all the --if cash part.
Let us take for example No.2.----- £10 E-way F - if cash - £10 Eway G.
Selection 'F' does not win, but it gets placed at an SP(starting price) of 5/2(1/5 odds a place. Selection 'G' does win at SP 4/1 (1/4 odds a place). This bet should be settled as follows.
The £10 win on 'F' is lost. £10 place on 'F' = Returns of £15. The problem now is we only have this £15, but the 'If Cash' instructions are £10 Eway 'G'. The second part of the bet will be settled --- £10 win 'G' and £5 place 'G' = £50 for win and £10 for the place = £60 total returns. The rule, generally is --- 'always cover the WIN part of the instructions on the bet first, then put the balance if any on the PLACE when insufficient money to cover the IF CASH. In this instance, as you can see, applying this rule has been beneficial, as the second selection has won. But if it had only finished 2nd, then the returns would have only been £10 (i.e. £5 Place @4/1--1/4 odds).
Most bookmakers settle bets in this way but not all. Always check to make sure. Some bookmakers have a rule that the If Cash part is -Equally Divided between the win and place parts of the bet.
This is also a name used for a bet which incorporates this rule of equally dividing the If Cash part of bets. As long as the bet is written with clear instructions, then a settler should understand it.
Eg. ------- £5 E.Way Equally Divided
A
B
The cost of this bet is £10. It tells the settler to put £5 e.w on 'A' , and if there are any returns then divide these returns in two and put equal amounts on the Win and Place of next selection 'B'.
