Advice on Staking
Different Bets

Sometimes, a person looks for a different way to put on a bet. He or she might have stuck to the same old Patent, Lucky 15 or Heinz for ages, but wants to try something new.

Well, I could have the answer. I can offer you free advice on the type of bet to do. I will give you suggestions and show you new ways to do bets*.

You don't have to keep putting your money on your selections in the same way all the time. I can show you better ways to utilise the same stake money, whether you bet in small or large stake units.

I know that a lot of people bet for fun, maybe because the racing or football is on the telly, or they just like to have a little flutter now and again, but how many times have there been a couple of winners in a bet and the returns didn't even cover the stake money?

What are they doing wrong ? Were the prices of the selections so small, that it was impossible to win unless nearly all the selections win?

I don't want to run down a bet such as a Heinz, but think about it -- there are 57 bets, yet if one of them loses, then there are only 26 bets left. If two lose, there are only 11 bets left. Of course, if the other four selections win, there will probably be a profit, but on the other hand, it can still make a loss. I appreciate that a Heinz is a terrific bet if they all win, or if sometimes only five of them do, but how often do you hear of it happening.

I'm not trying to put you off your bet if you enjoy it, if it gives you pleasure that you have an interest in a race or two on the T.V. regardless of the outcome. That's what having a bet for fun is all about.

But if someone is looking for something different, then send an e-mail to me telling me why you want to change your bet and I'll see what can be done.

*Although advice can be given on types of bets, Settle-a-Bet will not advise on selections.
