Can I buy model soldiers through the BMSS?

Yes, the Society produces its own range of exclusive figures, the BMSS "Members' Collection" range. For a full list of the figures available visit the BMSS Support Services page. The Society does not sell any other figures as it is not a commercial trader. To find details of companies who trade in a wide range of figures visit our Links page.

The Society holds Auctions of collectors figures, for details see the Advice to Collectors page. Please note that BMSS Auctions are open to current Society members only.

Can I sell my figures through the BMSS?

It depends on what figures you are wanting to sell. If it is a line of commercial figures which you are manufacturing or trading in, then the answer is no since the Society is not a trading organisation. However, if you are a non-commercial collector who is wanting to sell figures from your collection it may be possible to include them in one of the Society Auctions. Please note that the BMSS charges a small commission for items it sells through its auctions and that it reserves the right to refuse to accept figures for sale at the discretion of the Hon. Auctioneer. If interested in the BMSS Auctions please contact the Society.

If you have products you wish to advertise to Society members you can take advertising space in our publications. For details contact the BMSS Advertising Officer, 111 High Street, Callander, Perthshire, FK17 8BQ, UK.

Can you tell me where to find a model of a particular subject?

There are so many figures currently on the market that the Society cannot keep details of all models available. There are also many questions, such as scale, type of material, style of figure, purpose, etc, that makes it impossible to give simple answers to these types of enquiry. There are many traders and manufacturers listed in the Links page on our website, which would be a good place to start looking for a particular figure, or try the advertisers in any of the modelling magazines.

Can the BMSS give a valuation for model or toy soldiers?

The Society cannot give any valuations for any model soldiers over the Internet. A great deal depends on the nature and condition of the figures which cannot be judged without seeing the actual item itself, so no valuations can be given by e-mail or by post. At the Society's Annual Show there are sometimes experts in attendance who are willing to give help and advice with collecting, but any idea of value they may give must be taken as guidance only and not precise or binding valuations.

I am visiting London. Can you supply details of model soldier shops?

Try visiting:

"Guards Toy Soldier Shop", Birdcage Walk (nearest Underground station: St James Park).
"Under Two Flags" in St Christophers Place (off Oxford Street, nearest Underground: Bond Street)
"Tradition of London Ltd", 33 Curzon Street, Mayfair (nearest Underground: Green Park).

Depending on when you are visiting, note that there are over 30 traders with stands at the BMSS Annual Show. There are also trade stands at most of the other model soldier shows, see the BMSS Diary for details of when events are taking place.

Can I pay for BMSS "Members Collection" figures or my BMSS Subscription by Credit Card?

Regrettably not. The charges which are levied by the credit card companies are such that this method of payment is not viable for the Society. We accept British Sterling cheques, travellers cheques, or Sterling bankers orders or money orders.

Can I pay my subscription by Direct Debit?

Again regrettably not and again it is because of the exorbitant charges levied by the banks. The Society Treasurer has made strenuous efforts to find a way for us to use Direct Debit but the banks are intractable.

Can I pay my subscription by Standing Order?

Yes, this is most welcome. Please contact the Hon. Treasurer who will send the necessary form.

Can I join the BMSS even though I do not live in Britain?

Can I obtain a list of BMSS members?

No, the Society does not release its members' details outside the Society for any purpose. If you are a BMSS member who wishes to contact other members in your local area please contact the Hon. Secretary. If you are a trader who wants to advertise your products to Society members you can take advertising space in our magazines, have an insert sent out with our publications, or have a leaflet drop to members.
