  • March 1978 - drift drivages at Gascoigne Wood; shaft sinking at Riccall and Stillingfleet
  • 1979/80 - Wistow reaches Barnsley seam
  • 1983 - Wistow starts production
  • November 1985 - Gascoigne Wood surface complete
  • 1987 - Stillingfleet connects to Gascoigne Wood south tunnel
  • June 1987 - south spine tunnel - drivage complete at 12.2 km
  • December 1987 - Wistow sets new European record
  • 1988 - Riccall, Stillingfleet, Whitemoor commence production
  • January 1991 - North Selby comes into production
  • 1991 - Wistow Mine - 711 men produce 108,700 t in 1 week
  • (January 1995 - purchase of British Coal by RJB)
  • September 1995 - new European output record - Wistow - 200,743 tonnes in one week
