'His father, Th. Marsh was about 60 or 70 years ago bound apprentice in the business of a woolcomber in Waltham Abbey, Essex for 7 years and served all the time in that parish. In 1782 he was married at Shoreditch Church Middx to Rebecca by
whom he has five children now living with him, Eliz about 15 yrs, Sus. about 14 yrs, Maria about 9 yrs, Sarah about 5 yrs, Ja. about 12 months'.

A removal order also dated 9 August 1800 ordered the removal of William Marsh, his wife and five children from Mitcham to Waltham Abbey, Essex

His will was dated 7 July 1832 and was proved on 21 September 1846. He left all his goods, including four and a half acres in Frimley, to his wife Elizabeth and on her death to his son William.

He left Ð30 each to his sons James and Charles and his daughters

- Elizabeth, wife of Robert Howard of Albury, husbandman,

- Ann wife of Richard Allen of Weybridge, victualler

- Mary, wife of Stephen West of Woking, blacksmith

- Sarah, wife of James Shiers of Staines.

His wife and son, William were his executors. He died on or about 16 March 1846 and his estate was less than Ð100.

An addendum to the will made after death states that James was formerly of the hamlet of Frimley but late of Woking. He survived his wife Elizabeth and sold up four years before his death.
