The Palmer Family History

Our Palmer Family can be traced back to roots in Cambridgeshire at Soham and Prickwillow near Ely. The earliest reference is to Robert le Palmer of Soham who held land there in 1327. Since then the name has always been associated with the town and surrounding fen areas.

Our part of the family farmed at Prickwillow in the 19th Century. At the beginning of the 20th Century Russell's great grandfather George moved to Essex and farmed at Birdbrook. Later his son Robert moved to Finchingfield. It was here Robert (Bob) Palmer was born. He married Phyllis Barrett in 1945. (scroll down for more)

............below this point the line is not fully proven but there is evidence that there is a link. Names in green are certain. The evidence from wills and other sources points to the line linking to the 'Clement dynasty' even if this is not the direct route.
