My interest in the Collins family stems from my 7xgreat grandmother, Mary Collins, who married Richard Crudgington at Wheathill, Shropshire, in 1703, and had four children, Richard, Anne, Mary and Elizabeth, all baptised at Wheathill. The marriage register indicates that Mary was from Aston Botterell, Shropshire.
It seems reasonably certain that Mary was baptised in 1669 at Wheathill, the daughter of William Collins and Joan (née Palmer). William Collins and Joane Palmer were married at Ludlow, Shropshire, in 1666, and had three other children, all baptised in Stoke St. Milborough (a neighbouring parish to Wheathill): Richard (1667), Anne (1674) and Samuel (1679).
