John (Devereux), Lord Ferrers, son & heir of Sir Walter, by Anne. Aged 7 & more in 1471. Married Cecily, sister of Henry, Earl of Essex. Died 3rd or 7th May, 1501.
Walter (Devereux), Lord Ferrers, son & heir of John. Aged 12-13 at father’s death (1501). Married Lady Mary Grey, daughther of Thomas Grey, late Marquess Dorset. Created Viscount Hereford, 2nd February, 1549/50. Died at Chartley, 17th September 1558. Had three sons, Henry, Richard and William.
Sir Richard Devereux, 2nd, but 1st surviving son & heir of Walter. Married Dorothy, daughter of George (Hastings), Earl of Huntingdon. Died v.p. 13th October 1547.
Walter (Devereux), Viscount Hereford and Lord Ferrers, son & heir of Sir Richard by Dorothy, and grandson & heir of Walter. Born 16th September 1539, baptised 18th September 1539. Created Earl of Essex, 4th May 1572. Married between 1560 and 1565, Lettice, sister of William, 1st Earl of Banbury. Issue: Robert (2nd Earl), Walter, Dorothy, Penelope. Died 22nd September 1576 at Dublin.
Robert (Devereux), Earl of Essex, &c. 1st son & heir of Walter. Born 19th November 1566. A favourite of Queen Elizabeth, he was beheaded 25th February 1601. Issue: Robert (3rd Earl), bap. 22nd January 1591, Frances, Dorothy.
