William Drury Esq., of Earith, co. Huntingdon, was the eldest son of Richard Drury and Catherine Beswick. He was born in 1602/3. He was Lord of the Manor of Colne in 1632, and High Sheriff of Cambridge and Huntingdon in 1676. He died in 1689/90, and his Will is at the PCC. He married firstly Mary, daughter of ... Browne, of Stow, co. Huntingdon, by whom he had several children who died in infancy. He married secondly, in 1644, Catherine, daughter and at length heiress of Richard Winde of Earith, gentleman, and heiress of her mother, Katherine Winde.
By Catherine, William had 4 sons and 5 daughters, of which I have further details. From the eldest son, Richard, is descended the Drury family of Claydon. From the second son, William, are descended the Drury family of Blackheath. The other sons were Joseph and Winde. The daughters were Catherine, Mary, Alice, Susan and Elizabeth.
