A great great grandmother of mine was Margaret Faulkner. She married George Robinson in 1851 at Church Stretton, Shropshire. Margaret was born in 1824 in Meole Brace, near Shrewsbury, the daughter of John and Anne Faulkner (spelt Fawkener in the baptism register), then living at Eaton. Margaret died in 1918, aged 94, and was then living at Redcote, Church Stretton. She and George had eight children, including my great grandfather, John Thomas Robinson.
Margaret's father, John Faulkner, was born c. 1797/8 at Clun. I can not tell whether he was the son of John Faulkner and Elizabeth (née Davies) or Thomas Faulkner and Ann (née Hotchkiss), John and Thomas being brothers. Margaret's mother may have been Ann Parker who married a John Faulkner in Eaton-under-Heywood in 1823. John Faulkner was at various times a publican, wheelwright, carpenter and builder; he died in 1868, aged 72, and is buried at Church Stretton.
The two possible fathers of John, i.e. Thomas and John, were baptised in Clunbury in 1757 and 1765 respectively, the sons of John Faulkner and Mary (née Owens), who were married in 1757 at Clunbury. John (senior) was baptised in 1733 at Clunbury, the son of John Faulkner and Elizabeth (née Reynolds), who were married in 1722 at Clunbury. This John was probably baptised in 1683 at Clun, the son of John Faulkner and Elizabeth (née Jones), who were married in 1676 at Clunbury.
