My interest in this family stems from Isabel Langwile who married George Tomkins on October 6th, 1662, at Caynham, Shropshire, as she may have been my 7xgreat grandmother. I have been unable to trace her baptism or the identity of her parents. There are no other Langwile entries in the Shropshire IGI; it is listed with Longwell in the IGI, but is probably more likely to be a derivation of Longvylle (a Margery Llongvill, widow, was buried at Caynham in 1689).
There is an active group in Canada and the US researching LONGWELL, LONGWILL, LANGWELL and LONGUELLE families. There is some indication the Longwells may have come from Bishops Castle, Salop.
