A 15xgreat grandmother of mine was Elizabeth Merbury, daughter and heiress of John Merbury by his first wife. Elizabeth married Sir Walter Devereux of Bodenham and Whitchurch, co. Hereford, who was born in 1411. Sir Walter was Chancellor of Ireland in 1449, and died in 1459.
