My Robinson family comes from Shropshire and can be traced with certainty back to the marriage of Edward Robinson and Elizabeth Bowen in Church Stretton in 1714. The family remained in Church Stretton until well into the 20th century. I have been unable to trace the line any further back, though there are Robinson parish register entries in the neighbouring parishes of Acton Scott, Eaton-under-Heywood and Wistantow back to 1671. Edward Robinson is stated in the marriage register of 1714 to be a yeoman of Cardington, but there is no sign of him in that parish.
