TOM(P)KINS RESEARCH INTERESTS

My interest in the Tom(p)kins family stems from my 5xgreat grandmother, Anne Tompkins, who married James George on August 2nd, 1742, at Caynham, Salop. The register reads "James George & Anne Tompkins Both of ye Parish were Married".

Anne was the daughter of Samuel Tomkins and Mary (née Webb), baptised on April 1st, 1718, at Caynham.  She had siblings, all born and/or baptised at Caynham, Jane (bapt. October 14th, 1704), Isobel (1709-1710), Isobel (b. 1710), Edward (1713-1768) and Mary (bapt. April 26th, 1724, died 1724). Samuel Tomkins and Mary Webb were married at Caynham in 1702.

Samuel, may have been the Samuel Tomkins, son of George Tomkins and Isabel (née Langwile), baptised on February 18th, 1672, at Burford, Salop.   Other children of George and Isabel were Thomas (bapt. June 13th, 1663, Caynham), Anne (bapt. January 12th, 1664, Caynham), John (bapt. March 19th, 1666, Greet), Elizabeth (bapt. June 22nd, 1668, Greet), Francis (March 20th, 1670, Burford) and Edward (December 15th, 1678, Burford).
