EPISODE II: Independant Forces

As the Empire begins to lose its power, the New Republic turns its attention inward. Its many worlds were devastated by the war and require much work if the New Republic is to regain the glory of the Old Republic. One of those worlds which have begun their rebuilding is Lemon, home of the Lemmings. Their construction spills have also been put to use on another project. The Lemmings have been putting their efforts into a secret military project to repay the Republic. Other parties are interested in this project. A band of mercenaries have heard rumours of a new weapon and plan to get it for their own gains.

For thousands of years the ancient Duinuogwuin have lived in the galaxy. These Star Dragons were wise and peace-loving, even rumoured to serve as Jedi. However the race sometimes gives rise to monsters of evil destruction. A band of these evil dragons were pursued by a good dragon to a young Republic colony. They fought, leaving the good dragon near death. Unable to continue the fight he sent his human retainer off planet to bring back a Dragon Heart. The retainer, Marcus, obtained the object but dark dragons were hidden on his ship. They attacked crippling the ship. Marcus managed to retreat to safety and enter hibernation, hoping eventually to reach his destination. The ship has been drifting through space for the last 50 years.

As the Empire and New Republic continue to battle across the galaxy, the Fringe continues to conduct its own business. The planet of Benzin has become a main centre of activity for various traders, smugglers and criminal organisations. Benzin dispute relatively unscathed when the Empire withdrew and choose to remain independent. The Fringe enjoyed a freedom to conduct its affairs without bureaucratic intervention. However rumours have started that the Empire is returning to Benzin. Faced with this threat the Fringe has combined its resources to ensure its own survival.

On the planet of Oron the business man and entrepreneur A' revana has been acquiring various items of historical and cultural interest for a mysterious alien figure. One of these artefacts was stolen from the ruling priesthood of Oron. The priests are very eager to retrieve this object and the authorities have been ordered to find A' revana. Although his buyer has been taking many objects, the artefacts he has specifically requested all contain components used in the manufacture of Spaarti cloning cylinders. These items are being sent to an unknown location deep within the Galactic Core.

Garrit Lehra is a reckless young gambler. Like many of those who seek their fortune round a sabaac table, Garrit has lost a lot of credits and owes debts to some very unfriendly people. Recently released from prison, Garrit is on his way back to his grandparents on the planet above Morden. There he hopes to recover enough money to pay his debts, before his enemies catch up with him. However when Garrit gets to Morden he may find more than just treasure buried beneath the mountains.

As the New Republic continues to expand its influence, its need for finance also grows. They are hoping to gain a place on the Direx board of the Corporate Sector Authority -- gaining access to the resources which once funded the Empire. Captain Lehra has been sent to petition for this place, using the promise of the Republic's resources on worlds outside the Sector has a bargaining tool. There will however be fierce competition for a position in the galaxy's most wealthy organisation.

Within the Corporate Sector companies will do anything to add to their wealth. One common tactic is the hiring of mercenaries to acquire the assets of rival companies. In the last few days SoroSuub have lost contact with one of their remote zoological research stations. The company's board have decided to send one of their own teams into the area to reclaim and defend their investment.

The battle between the New Republic and the Empire continues to be fought throughout the galaxy. The Republic is growing but the Empire is still powerful. One of the Empire's main strengths is its military structure. The Republic plan to weaken this structure by capturing one of the remaining Grand Admirals, recently returned to Coruscant, capital of the Empire. The New Republic command is also anxious to find out information about appearances of a so called Dark Side Adept and activity within the galaxy's Deep Core.

The Jedi are returning to the galaxy. The deaths of the Emperor and Darth Vader saw Luke Skywalker become the first in a new line of Jedi Knights. Others are beginning to learn about the Force and its manifestations. Dren Solo has been taught much from the writings of Obi Wan Kenobi and the advice of the Golden Star Dragon. But more must be found and they have much to learn if they are to face a new threat from the Dark Side.

Jabba was the most powerful of the Hutt crime-lords, controlling over half the galaxy's criminal activity from his palace on Tatooine. After his death many underworld figures began a race to take over his territory. Smugglers, pirates and bounty hunters all began to set up their private empires. While working as a trader for the New Republic, Derin Morgan has uncovered a new operation within the Fringe which could see Braddu the Hutt grow in power.

War with the Empire goes on. Many worlds have been freed from the tyranny of the Empire, but just as many remain under Imperial control. The struggle started by the Rebel Alliance must continue to the fought by the New Republic. Many young men, women and aliens have joined the New Republic's military. Before they face the Empire in battle they undergo training in combat, survival and starship tactics from the finest leaders and heroes of the Alliance. Even those who have spent time in service can find that they have something to learn from a training mission.
