Wedding Blessings

Mont Blanc Church, ItalyKate and Karl's wedding blessing, Mont Blanc, Italy

For those who want an intimate, personal choice of promises, vows and ring exchanges.

Continental wedding blessings are for those who have no wish for an established church marriage, or those who feel a registrar service doesn’t hold enough Christian content: here you can combine the two.

A wedding blessing is a covenant between God, the bride and the groom, and is at the very heart of the Christian faith, God’s covenant with humanity.

Marriage is the legal registering of your service, taken by the registrar. A wedding blessing includes opening prayers, promises, vows and ring exchanges (you do not have to exchange rings at the registrar service, you can exchange roses or another token if you so wish). Family prayers, The Lord’s Prayer and a Trinitarian blessing are also included at each service.

You have the choice of promises, vows and ring exchanges, saying the intimate words you yourselves have chosen.

You also have the choice of readings, poems and prayers. I have a selection of these for you to choose from if you wish. The choice of music is also yours: classical, modern or traditional hymns.

You may wish to have a themed wedding e.g. fancy dress or Celtic, or you may wish to have candles, one each to bring to the service and light a larger third one to signify your marital union.

You may include the scattering of rose petals, as we remember those unable to attend your special day, or those loved ones who have recently passed away, and who will be included in prayer, there with you both, in spirit.

Renewal of vows

Renewal of Vows, Jason and Isobel, Royston

Renewal of vows services are becoming very popular, these are often asked for on special anniversaries, i.e. 25th or 50th.

There are also special circumstances where a couple may wish to renew their vows, i.e. after a separation or if one of them is terminally ill.

Commitment services

Matthew and Shaun's committment service, Bury St EdmundsI believe the gay community should not be annexed from the church.

I have conducted a beautiful commitment service, however I will not conduct a wedding or marriage service.

Marriage is between two heterosexual people in the name of God, however there are strong feelings both for and against this within the established churches. Legal homosexual marriages are also causing concern both here and in America.

If you would like more information about gay weddings then please contact me and I will put you in touch with a gay priest.
