Update on UK video release: I have heard from a reliable source that the video release is set for as near Halloween as possible. I would hazard a guess at the 25th of October. As far as I know the region 2 DVD will still be out on the 11th of October.

"The Exorcist" is out now to rent on video in the UK!!! The video and DVD will be avalible to buy on October 11 1999.

"The Exorcist" will be avalible to rent on April 26 1999 this has been confirmed. You'll be able to buy it for about £50 when it is avalible to rent, HMV in Oxford street sell rental videos and you might be able to order them at your local branch. The price falls dramatically when the video is put on sale to the general public via the usual retail outlets. This is known as the 'Sell Through' release of the video. This usually happens some 6 months or so after the rental release (So it could be as late as November) . The reason for this is so the rental shops can make their money back on their investment. If you are lucky enough to have a VCR that plays NTSC tapes then why not buy it now!

"The Exorcist" should be avalible to rent in the UK on the 1st of April 1999. But I have heard that it may not be avalible to buy until October. I am currently trying to find out if this is correct or not, so watch this space.

It's offical! "The Exorcist" has been passed by the BBFC uncut. It will be avalible to buy on video in the UK in April 1999, and has been given an "18" certificate. If you would like to read the full statement given by the BBFC click here.

I've been hearing rumors about this for a long time and thought it time to write something here about it. William Peter Blatty is apparently writing a scrip for Exorcist 4. It is a prequel about Father Merrin's exorcisms in Africa, sounds a bit like Exorcist 2 again. William Friedkin will not be involved he is quoted as saying, "I wouldn't even watch it". Blatty may direct it and Max Von Sydon will probably play the role of Father Merrin.

Linda Blair presented an award at the 1998 British comedy awards and said that "The Exorcist" should become avalible on video in the UK next year (March/April). This is good news.

I know this isn't Exorcist news but I thought it might be of interest. "Texas Chain Saw Massacre" is being shown at ABC Shaftesbury Avenue (until early Jan). It still hasn't got a BBFC certificate but Camden concil gave it a special certificate so it can be. This film makes "The Exorcist" look like "Bambi"!!
