News:
Gary Brown and Steve Copping represented Somersham in the Grand Prix of Gt. Britain. A new competition for 2009, and open to all riders racing in the UK, it consisted of a regional qualifier followed by a finals day at East Park.
It was the Somersham pair's first appearance at this refurbished track which is in a beautiful secluded quadrant of the park. On track they found the long straights a real test of stamina and struggled to score many points, but Brown's surprise final ride win was enough for a reserve spot in the final.
The event was won by Polish star Lukas Nowacki, after beating British Champion Lee Aris in a run-off, and was deemed successful enough to warrant a re-appearance on next year's fixture list.

If you fancy a go at Cycle Speedway please get in touch and we'll give you the info you need. The Somersham club does not currently have enough members to compete in league racing, but we'd love to hear from anyone who thinks they can help get a team together. In the mean time the track is, as ever, available to the community for training purposes.
