St Jean de la Blaquiere is a very small old village set in the Herault department foothills. It is about 10 kilometres from the market towns of Clermont l'Herault and Lodeve and 40 kilometres from Montpellier and the Mediterranean. The village has a small general provisions store, which sells fresh bread. Mobile shops and local people also sell produce in the village square. There is now a pleasant, thriving bar and pizzeria. You can sit down or order take away pizzas. It is a quiet village.

Peret is a peaceful, small old village set in the in the Herault department foothills. It is only 10 kilometres from the very picturesque market town of Clermont l'Herault, 20 kilometres from Pezenas, and only 40 kilometres from Montpellier, its airport and the Mediterranean. The village has a hairdresser, plus a general store that sells fresh bread.

Both villages are well placed for touring. To the North there are the gorges du Tarn, Cirques de Navacelles and Roquefort caves. You can canoe and swim in the Herault gorge, or explore the Clamouse caves. You can also swim or windsurf in the nearby Lac du Salagou. There are numerous numerous restaurants in the nearby towns and villages.

The Mediterranean is less than an hour away by car along the quiet D2 road to Sete, or autoroute to Agde. Between Sete and Agde there is a beautiful long sandy beach with clear water with easy parking alongside the road. At Cap d'Agde there is Aqualand where the whole family can enjoy a day out. The TGV serves Montpellier, and Ryanair and BA fly to Montpellier airport.
