THE ART OF THE RECORDER

 

A series of 5 concerts in All Saints, Tudeley,

near Tonbridge, Kent

from February to June 2007.

 

 

Tudeley Church is famous for its stained glass by Marc Chagall. It has a superb acoustic for chamber music and is home to the prestigious Tudeley Festival.

Virtuoso Music for Recorder and Strings with Robert Hoult

Baroque concerti and the Gordon Jacobs Suite.

“Renaissance to Rumba”

Duo Ricercare - Andrew Collis (recorder) and Graham Roberts (guitar)

An evening of audacious contrasts: music spanning early dance and the high baroque, through 19th Century salon music to more contemporary modern pieces.

The Pilgrim Road

Cancionero:

Anne Purnell (voice, recorders, hurdy-gurdy, percussion), Anthony Purnell (voice, recorder, cornamuse, strings), Helen Johnson  (voice, strings, percussion) and Brian White (voice, percussion).

The recorder in a medieval context. The programme includes a selection from the Cantigas de Santa Maria.

“Response to Bach”

Kathryn Bennetts and Peter Bowman (recorders)

Bach’s Two Part Inventions and music from the 18th and 21st centuries influenced by them.

Baroque trios and contemporary solos

Ross Winters and Nathan Winters (recorders) with Richard Leigh-Harris (harpsichord and piano)

Trios by Telemann, Purcell and Sammartini with solos by Telemann, Marcus Zahnhausen and Richard Leigh-Harris.
