John (Jack) Pryce

John Price (or Jack) was indeed a Blade, however he never played for United.

He was born in Renton on 25th January 1874 and first played for Renton, one of the biggest clubs in the early years of Scottish football (they were Scottish Cup Winners twice and frequent semi-finalists.
Renton entered the Scottish League in its second season (1891/92) though their best days were behind them by then.

Price switched to Hibernian at some point (though I have no idea when) before moving to Glossop North End in 1898.
He played in the small Derbyshire town for just one season (or possibly part of one season) before switching across the Pennines to Wednesday (who were known as the Blades at the time).

He made his debut on March 4th 1898 against Everton at Olive Grove (Wednesday's home at the time), a match Wednesday lost 2-1.

Pryce played 3 seasons for Wednesday before moving further south to Southern League sides Queen's Park Rangers and finally Brighton.

His record at Wednesday was

           League FA Cup   Total
App Gls App Gls App Gls
1898-1899  8   0   0   0   8   0
