George Lee broke his leg in the infamous 3rd round cup tie with United.

1901 v. Notts County(away)
Goalie Frank Stubbs gives and inexplicably bad second half display as Wednesday go down 6-1. Inexplicable until it is discovered that he had suffered a first half concusion.

 1902 v. Walsall Town (home)
In a Midland League game, The Walsall keeper claims compensation from Wednesday after he claims his false teeth are broken during the match - Wednesday refuse.

1921
"A" Team player, George Pennington dies of pneumonia.

1922
Winger, Charles Binney has a nervous breakdown.

1923
Tom Armitage is seriously injured during the Xmas Day Wharncliffe Charity Cup match. He is rushed to hospital, but dies before New Year.

1931
Billy Marsden receives an injury while playing for England and is forced to retire. Wednesday receive £2000 from the FA in compensation.

1937 v. Norwich City
Harry Ware has his jaw broken by a Canary in an off the ball incident.

1938 Car Crash
A car containing Catlin and Fallon crashes into a telegraph pole on Penistone road and are rushed to hospital.

1947 Motor Cycle Accident
Jackie Marriott crashes his motor cycle and injures his ankle.

1947 Chairman Dies
The Blackpool Chairman(who is at Hillsborough as a guest) collapses and dies after the Fulham match.

1948
Eddie Kilshaw, the record £20,000 buy from Bury at the start of the season, dislocates his knee after 19 matches. The injury ends his career.

1949
Opening match disaster as Dennis Woodhead breaks his leg against Liverpool and Albert Morton, the reserve team goalie, breaks his leg against Wolves.

1949
Doug Fletcher breaks his leg playing for the Army.

1950
Alf Rogers retires due to an arthritic hip.

1952 v. Preston (away)
Derek Dooley breaks his leg. In hospital gangrene sets in and his leg is amputated. Dooley is just 23 years old.

1953 v. Preston (away)
The Preston jinx hits again as Dave McIntosh breaks his arm and Norman Curtis has to go in goal.

1960 v. Arsenal (away)
The Owls' coach crashes in the A1. Peter Swan breaks his shoulder, but reserve player Doug McMillan is trapped and has his leg amputated.

1964 v. Bremen
David Ford is stretchered off on his debut and misses the whole season.

1964 v. Burnley
Mark Pearson breaks his leg. His first match back after recovery is against Liverpool. He breaks his leg again. It's his last game for Wednesday.

1967
David Ford crashes on Redmires Road. He is out for 10 weeks, but his fiance is killed.

1978
Paul Bradshaw retires due to injury.

1982
Ian Bailey breaks his leg v. Brighton.

1986
Ian Knight breaks his leg v. Chester.

Steve McCall breaks his leg v. Coventry.

David Hirst breaks his ankle v. Arsenal.

In UEFA cup match v. Spora Luxembourg, Paul Warhurst clashes with the Spora goalkeeper and is laid out. He swallows his tongue and is saved by prompt action by Wednesday trainer.
