Sheffield Wednesday hold the record of having a representative of the club in both the first official test match and the first official international football match.
The first official test match took place between March 15th and March 19th
1877 between England and Australia in Melbourne.
On the English side that day were Tom Armitage and George Ulyett, both well
known Yorkshire cricketers - but both of whom had represented the Wednesday
Cricket Club.
Ulyett also went on briefly to play for Wednesday as
football, during the 82/3 and 83/4 seasons - going so far as to play as a
Wednesday player in the Sheffield FA representative side against London in 1883.
JC Clegg represented England against Scotland in the first official football international in November 1872.
