Cyprus

The Cyprus Women's Football Championship began in March 1999.
It consisted of a league of 5 teams:

Lefkothea Nicosia
La Bella Limassol
Daphne Troullon
Thiella
AEK Kokkinohorion

In the first round of matches Lefkothea beat Troullon 20-0 while Limassol beat Thiella 15-0 in front of 200 spectators.

It was hoped that the league would enable the Association to put out an international team in the near future.
