Shrewsbury Town

Shrewsbury Town Women's Football Club was formed in the beginning of 1993.

The formation of the club followed a series of training sessions organised by Vicky Wilkinson of Shropshire Leisure Services department and run by Richard Pratley the ex-Derby County and Shrewsbury Town defender and then the community officer of Shrewsbury Town FC.

Season 1999/2000

In 1999-2000 history was made when the team played Manchester United Ladies in a friendly to celebrate the clubs newly found status of being the first team to play on a Football League Ground.

Info

This club started in the summer of '96 after owner Wayne Kennedy visited the Atlanta Olympics with Roger LeGrove Rogers, America's World-Cup winning manager.

Our senior side rose through the ranks of regional football with the amazing record of being promoted every year. We now currently play in the Midland Women's Combination League.

We were the first women's football club to be set up as a limited company. This means that in the increasing world of litigation, players are not held financially responsible for any problems that may occur, which gives a comfortable atmosphere. Also, there are no "power-groups" of players attempting to exert influence for their own aims - as can often happen at member clubs. This being said, our committee meets usually on the first Tuesday in the month and everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend and put forward any points or suggestions.

We have control of our own destiny and are not dependent on anyone.
