History

The club was founded in 1971 at The Star Inn , Rotherham following a charity match between men and women at the pub.

Initially it took its name from the Pub playing as Star Ladies.Shortly after they joined the Sheffield Ladies League and when this league folded they moved into the Nottinghamshire League , later to become The East Midlands Ladies League.

They stayed in this competition until 1991 when the became members of the Women's National League.

When The Football Association founded The FA Women's Premier League ,Wednesday became founder members of The Northern Division.
